Daphne Alabama Emergency Information

We, in the City of Daphne, welcome you to the Eastern Shore. If you are thinking about locating to Daphne or have already moved here, you will find that we are a "city on the move." Over the past few years, our population has increased by 30%. Despite this rapid growth, Daphne has been able to maintain the ambience of a small
town where the people are friendly and caring, and newcomers soon become good friends. Daphne is located in Baldwin County, Alabama, on the eastern shoreline of Mobile Bay, just off I-10. We are 11 miles east of Mobile, 45 miles west of Pensacola, Florida and 150 miles southwest of Montgomery, the State Capital.

Daphne has earned a reputation for pristine beauty, reputable schools and recreational opportunities which span land, rivers and bays. The Gulf of Mexico’s beaches and Mobile Bay fishing areas can be enjoyed leisurely on a day off. Abundant fresh water fishing on rivers and hunting advantages in Baldwin County add to the enjoyment of living in Daphne. With the City population approximately 18,000 and growing, Daphne is the largest city in Baldwin County, with more than 3,500 students attending schools.

Our location is convenient to Mobile and Pensacola , and we are less than an hour away from the beautiful Gulf of Mexico . There are outstanding hospitals in Mobile , Pensacola , and Fairhope which is only a few moments away. Our area provides churches of major denominations, as well as excellent schools that excel in academics and athletics.

We welcome you to the Eastern Shore and will be happy to assist you in making your transition a pleasant one.

"The Jubilee City"

Daphne is perhaps most famous for being one of the few places in the world to experience the phenomenon known as a "Jubilee". This event brings blue crabs, shrimp and fish into the shallow waters of the shoreline, just waiting to be scooped up by those waiting to fill their ice chests. Thus giving us the title "The Jubilee City."
