Employee Benefits

Employee benefits are made available to employees through payroll deduction and administered through the Human Resources (HR) Department. Any questions concerning benefits may be directed to the HR Department. The following are highlights of some of the benefits offered to City of Daphne employees.

Health Insurance

The City of Daphne offers Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama medical and dental insurance. The medical coverage is a PMD (Preferred Medical Doctor) plan. For maximum benefits seek services from Preferred Providers and Participating Providers. (Visit their web site at www.bcbsal.com).

The City of Daphne offers medical and dental coverage to employees. Medical premium for employee only is $40.43 per month and family medical premium is $282.14 per month for full-time employees (32+ hours per week). Dental premium is provided to the employee only at no cost and family dental coverage is available $25 per month. Insurance premiums may be tax deferred through the City of Daphne Cafeteria Plan. Coverage begins on the first day of the month following thirty (30) days of employment.

Law Enforcement Benefits


We have two separate organizations which offer benefits to law enforcement personnel: Alabama Police Officers Annuity and Benefit Fund (www.apoabf.state.al.us) and Southern States Police Benevolent Association (www.sspba.org). Visit their web sites for more information.

Voluntary Life Insurance & Long-Term Disability


The City of Daphne provides Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, and Long-term Disability insurance for all full time employees. Coverage begins on the first day of the month following ninety (90) days of employment. Life insurance coverage is equal to one year’s annual salary. Disability pays 60% of your regular salary (based on a 40 hour work week) in the event you are disabled and unable to work.
