The overall scope of work shall include the installation of 5 ft wide sidewalk with pedestrian crosswalks and signage where required, along with relative grading work, drainage crossings, and utility relocations to accommodate the new sidewalk. The bidding of the project is comprised of a Base Bid section, an Add Alternate 1 section, and an Add Alternate 2 section. Breaking down the bid this way allows the Owner to more efficiently utilize the amount of available funds. Contractors shall include all three sections with their bid. The Bidder will be responsible for providing the material and installation of all items of work shown in the plans. The Base Bid section begins at STA 0+00 (Daphne Ave) and ends at STA 59+61 (Pollard Rd), just north of the roundabout at Whispering Pines Road. There is approximately 2630 SY of concrete sidewalk within the project boundary of the BASE Bid section. The Add Alternate 1 section begins at STA 59+61 (Pollard Rd) and ends at STA 71+61 (Pollard Rd), just south of the intersection with Creekbank Drive. There is approximately 580 SY of concrete sidewalk, 476 LF of wooden handrail, and 1400 SF of retaining wall within the project boundary of the Add Alternate 1 section. The Add Alternate 2 section begins at STA 71+61 (Pollard Rd) and ends at STA 91+00 (Pollard Rd), just north of the intersection with Landing Eagle Drive. There is approximately 1000 SY of concrete sidewalk within the project boundary of the Add Alternate 2 section.
One hundred fifty (150) calendar days are allowed for the construction of the project, regardless of bid option.
